Mobic is the market name for the drug Meloxicam developed by Boehringer-Ingelheim.
It is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug used for treating symptoms of Osteoarthritis, Rheumatoid arthritis and Juvenile rheumatoid arthritis, in the capacity of an analgesic, fever reducer and anti-inflammatory.

Mobic can be given to patients suffering from Juvenile rheumatoid arthritis who are above two years of age. The recommended dose is 0.125 mg/kg to a maximum of 7.5 mg. But Mobic has few quite a few known side effects. These include:
Common Reactions- Diarrhea, dyspepsia, upper respiratory tract infections and alike symptoms of influenza in children and adults.
Allergic Reactions- There is known hypersensitivity like anaphylactoid reactions and other skin reactions to Meloxicam.
Coronary Surgery- MOBIC is not recommended for the purpose of peri-operative pain treatment that is based on the setting of CABG surgery, where CABG stands for coronary artery bypass graft.
There can be more serious reactions in long term use of Mobic. Few of them are:
Serious and potentially fatal cardiovascular effects. Patients with known heart problems may be at greater risk.
Known serious gastrointestinal effects especially in patients with a prior history of ulcer or gastrointestinal bleeding.
Severe hepatic reactions in adult patients especially the elderly.
Hypertension and blood pressure problems.
Fluid retention and edema. May cause fluid retention or heart failure.
Renal papillary necrosis and other renal injury.
